| Reception |
|
All participants are welcome to join the conference reception. The reception will be held at National Taiwan Museum in the evening of Monday, April 19, from 18:00 to 20:00. We will first take the conference group picture in the museum’s courtyard, and we have arranged with the museum to open a portion of its exhibition area to participants who are interested in taking a short tour inside the museum. For participants who prefer to sit down and relax, there will also be short documentary films showing in the multimedia room, introducing the history of Taiwan. The reception will provide drinks, and there are plenty of restaurants in the area for participants to dine at when the reception is over.
Transportation: Please take MRT outside the conference venue and head to MRT NTU Hospital station and take exit #4

Location: The Grand Hotel
The banquet will be held at Fu Gui Room of the Grand Hotel in the evening of Wednesday, April 21, after the conference tour. The Grand Hotel, with its traditional palace style architecture, vermilion pillars, stately archways, and brilliantly tiled roof, is not only a magnificent landmark of Taiwan, but also an emblem of ancient China. For decades the Grand Hotel has played host to dignitaries from around the world.

Conference Tour

Time: April 21 (Wednesday)
Location: The National Palace Museum
The conference tour will take participants to the National Palace Museum on Wednesday, April 21, after the scientific sessions. The National Palace Museum houses a permanent collection of over 650,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks. The National Palace Museum and the Palace Museum, located inside the Forbidden City in China, shares the same original roots. The collection encompasses over 8,000 years of Chinese history from the Neolithic age to the late Qing dynasty. Most of the collections are high quality pieces collected by China's ancient emperors.

| Cultural Program |

The local committee has planned several short-distant programs for accompanying person to attend during the conference scientific sessions. These programs include Lungshan Temple, Taipei City Zoo, Confucius’ Temple, Bao An Gong Temple, and the northern coast of Taiwan.
The number of participants for each of these programs is limited. Participants must register in advance and complete the payment before they will be able to sign up for the cultural programs. Participants who are planning to attend the North Coast scenic tour (Program #4) must provide passport number and date of birth for insurance purpose.
You will find detailed information below. Every cultural program starts off at the registration desk in the conference site. Please also check the Cultural Program page to sign up for cultural programs.
Program 1 : Lungshan Temple
Time: 15:00-17:00, Monday, April. 19 (Assemble at 14:45)
Transportation: MRT; MRT ticket for single route: NT 25 (Please prepare changes in advance to cover your expenses in transportation)

Introduction:
Lungshan Temple was originally built in 1738 to worship Kuanyin, the goddess of mercy. It survived natural disasters and wars for the past two hundred years. It is one of the most popular temples in Taipei, and people come to worship in this temple from all over the country. Being built in the Ching Dynasty, the temple is decorated with huge, complex sculptures and colorful paintings. The temple is also famous for its architectural merits.
Program 2: Taipei City Zoo
Time: 08:30-11:30, Tuesday, April. 20 (Assemble Time: 08:15)
Transportation: City Bus. Bus ticket for single route: NT 15.
Entrance Fee: Adult: NT 60. Children between 6-12 years of age: NT 30.
Note: Please prepare changes in advance to cover your expenses in transportation and entrance fee. We will return to the conference venue before 12:00.
Introduction:
The history of Taipei City Zoo can be traced back to over 90 years ago. There are six main buildings (Education Center, Nocturnal Animal House, Penguin House, Koala House, Amphibian and Reptile House and Insectarium) and eight exhibition areas (Formosan Animal Area, Children's Zoo, Asian Tropical Rainforests Animal Area, Desert Animal Area, Australian Animal Area, African Animal Area, Bird World and Temperate Zone Animal Area) in the zoo. There are also an outdoor nature observation area, a wetland ecological park, and a special exhibit house.
Program 3: Confucius' Temple and Bao An Gong Temple

Introduction:
Temples to Confucius are a concrete symbol of Chinese Confucian culture. By the Ming and Ching Dynasties, most counties and municipalities in China have built Confucius temples, which were called Confucian schools, to serve as centers for Confucian study and education in general. The Confucius Temple of Taipei can be traced its origins back to 1875 when the Qing court established in Taipei as a prefecture city for Northern Taiwan.
Program 4: North Coast scenic tour
Time: 08:30-17:30, Thursday, April. 22. (Assemble Time: 08:15)

Note: We will return to the conference venue before 18:00. Tour bus and lunch are covered in this tour.
Introduction:
The Yangmingshan National Park, one of the eight national parks in Taiwan, is famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes and hiking trails. Yehlliu Gerpark, in the northern cape of Taiwan, is famous for the hoodoo stones that dot on its surface. These shapes can be viewed at the North Coast. A number of rock formations have been given imaginative names based on their shapes. The most well-known is the “Queen's Head", an iconic image in Taiwan and an unofficial emblem for the town of Wanli. Other formations include "The Fairy Shoe", "The Bee Hive", "The Ginger Rocks" and "The Sea Candles."
